Sand broadcast flooring is an industrial-grade coating system where fine silica sand is broadcast into wet epoxy, creating an aggressive non-slip texture that withstands the most punishing conditions. It's designed for environments where standard epoxy would be too smooth, too slippery, or too thin — auto repair shops, heavy equipment warehouses, manufacturing floors, and facilities where dropped tools, vehicle traffic, and chemical spills are daily realities.
Bear Bond installs sand broadcast systems across Sonoma County for auto shops, body shops, fleet maintenance facilities, and commercial warehouses. It's the least glamorous floor system we install and often the most important.

Right sand spec for your use case
Silica sand comes in multiple grades — from fine to coarse. We specify the right aggregate size for your environment's specific traction and durability requirements.
Full broadcast to rejection
We don't spot-broadcast. Sand is applied at full rejection across the entire floor, then the excess is swept back and a grout coat is applied to lock the aggregate in place permanently.
Chemical-resistant top seal
Auto shops and industrial facilities expose floors to oils, solvents, brake fluid, and battery acid. We seal every sand broadcast floor with a chemically resistant topcoat rated for your specific exposure profile.
Industrial prep on industrial floors
Industrial concrete is often contaminated with years of oil, grease, and embedded debris. We diamond grind and degrease aggressively before any coating goes down — ensuring the system bonds to clean concrete.

We diamond grind the entire surface and apply industrial degreaser to oil-contaminated areas. Proper decontamination is critical for adhesion on shop floors.

Epoxy base is applied and sand is broadcast to rejection across the full surface. After curing, excess sand is removed and the grout coat encapsulates the aggregate.

No — that's exactly why it exists. The silica aggregate creates an aggressive texture that maintains grip even when wet with water, oil, or cleaning solution. It's specified for environments where slip-and-fall safety is a priority.
Yes. We work around vehicle lifts, alignment equipment, floor-mounted compressors, and other fixed infrastructure. Jose maps the layout during the estimate to plan the install sequence.
Heavy oil contamination requires degreasing followed by aggressive diamond grinding to remove embedded oil from the concrete pores. In extreme cases, we may specify an oil-tolerant primer system. We assess contamination levels during the site visit and price accordingly.
Most single-bay or multi-bay shop installs are complete in 1–2 days. We schedule around your business hours — overnight and weekend installs are available to avoid disrupting your operation.
Sand broadcast with UV-stable topcoats can work in covered outdoor areas. Fully exposed outdoor concrete has different thermal expansion characteristics — Jose will advise on suitability during the estimate.
Sweep or blow out debris regularly. For oil spills, clean promptly with a degreaser and soft brush — the non-porous topcoat prevents oil from soaking into the concrete. Avoid pressure washing at high PSI, which can damage the texture over time.
