Polished concrete is not a coating, it's a mechanical refinement process. Using progressively finer diamond tooling, we grind and hone the concrete surface until it achieves the desired level of clarity and sheen. The result is a dense, non-porous surface that reflects light beautifully and requires almost no maintenance.
Unlike epoxy coatings, polished concrete never peels, flakes, or delaminate because there's no coating to fail. The floor itself becomes the finish. With the addition of densifiers and guard treatments, polished concrete becomes harder, more stain-resistant, and more durable than the original raw slab.
Bear Bond offers polished concrete finishing across Sonoma County from Matte Level 1 (satin) up to Level 4 (high-gloss mirror finish). Whether you're outfitting a modern retail store in Santa Rosa, a contemporary home in Healdsburg, or a commercial office in Petaluma, we'll achieve the exact finish level your design calls for.

Diamond tooling progression done right
Polished concrete is a multi-step process — skipping a grit level leaves scratches that show up under light. Bear Bond works through the full tooling progression, from coarse grinding to fine polishing, without shortcuts.
Densifier application
We apply lithium silicate densifier to chemically harden the concrete surface before final polishing. This step is what makes polished concrete truly durable and stain-resistant — not just shiny.
Stain guard treatment
A penetrating guard treatment is applied at completion to protect the polished surface from oil, water, and common spills. The floor stays natural-looking while gaining exceptional stain resistance.
Sheen level consultation
From a subtle Level 1 satin to a high-gloss Level 4 mirror finish — we help you choose the right sheen for your space's lighting, use, and aesthetic. Jose brings physical reference samples to every estimate.

We begin with coarse diamond tooling to remove any existing coatings, level high spots, and expose the desired aggregate level. This step determines how much of the concrete's natural character shows in the final finish.

Polished concrete installs typically take 1–3 days, depending on size and target sheen level. The floor is immediately walkable after completion.

Polished concrete in Sonoma County ranges from $3–$8 per square foot, depending on the starting condition of the concrete, the target sheen level, square footage, and any decorative treatments. Spaces with existing coatings that need removal, significant cracking, or very coarse concrete will fall toward the higher end of the range.
Polished concrete is often the most cost-effective premium flooring option available. It uses the existing concrete slab as the finished surface, eliminating the materials cost of a separate floor system.

Most concrete can be polished to some degree. Factors that affect polishability include concrete hardness, aggregate distribution, existing damage, and previous treatments. Jose assesses these during the free estimate and gives you an honest recommendation on what's achievable.
Concrete conducts heat, so it can feel cool in air-conditioned spaces. Many clients find this comfortable in California's climate. Radiant heating can be added beneath concrete for cold-climate comfort. It is hard underfoot — area rugs are commonly used in residential settings.
A properly polished and densified concrete floor has a Coefficient of Friction (COF) that meets or exceeds OSHA requirements for commercial flooring when dry. Like any smooth floor, extra care is warranted when wet. Level 3 and Level 4 finishes in wet environments may require anti-slip treatment.
Daily: sweep or dust mop. Weekly: damp mop with pH-neutral cleaner. Annual: reapply guard treatment and burnish with a high-speed buffer to restore sheen. This is significantly less maintenance than tile grout or hardwood.
Yes. Concrete dyes can be applied during the polishing process to add warm or cool tones, or to create more dramatic color effects. Dye options are reviewed during the design consultation.
Properly maintained polished concrete lasts indefinitely; it's the floor itself, not a coating. Major retailers, airports, and commercial buildings use polished concrete specifically because of its longevity. The densifier treatment actually makes the concrete harder over time.
